2005 Mothers Day Poems

by Claudia Arend

Dear Mommy,

I love you so much. Words can't express all my gratitude, but I will try.

Year after year you give me everything I need and could ever want.

You have given me great opportunities. What good would my feet be if they weren't taught how to move across a stage? What good would my voice be if it was held behind doors? What good would my brain be if it was not educated? The list go's on. I am so blessed to have you as my mother.

The following poems aren't written about you, however they are dedicated to you. These people are special in my life because without them I would never have been able to come to you.

Mother

Dear mother,

I wonder where and how you are'

I wonder even from afar

If you're wondering, I'm doing fine

Though it can be hard at times

Mother are you alive or dead?

This often runs through my head

If you're alive, which I hope you are still

I'll try to find you - I will

And, if you're dead that's ok

It was you time to pass away

I pray you have come to know the Lord

That you have found hope in his word

I think of you like a guardian angel

You've got a hold of my hand

Together we will be, in His land

I know you did what was best for me

One day I hope to finally see

We will stand face to face

Until then, help me in this race

At times I feel all alone

You are my flesh, blood and bone

Am I like you, are you like me?

You helped me to become free

Sometimes I think I see your face in a cloud

Mother, I hope I have made you proud.

You are so kind

I'm glad you were mine

With out you...

What was I to do?

When I had no place to go

You were there

When I as all alone

Your home you shared

You're part of my family

As far as I'm concerned

In my heart you are burned.

Dr. Blackburn,

I don't remember the plane ride...

I just know you were there by my side

You held me tight when I was scared

I know you must have truly cared

Sometimes I'm able to see you once a year

To think of you brings joyful tears

Without people like you

Where would we be today?

Thinking about it, it's hard say

I want to be like you...

And do what's right

You are my brilliant shining light

"Mommy - Mamma" you heard me cry

I love you Dr. Blackburn and that's no lie

Mom -

Miracle worker, who gives many Opportunities, who with her daughter makes

many happy Memories.

Thank you

Mommy I love you, I love you I do

Mommy I thank you for all that you do

For waking me up every morning, with a kiss and a hug

No matter the weather, always waiting with me, outside for the bus

For making me delicious meals each and every day

Giving me the best in every way

Making sure I always look my best, never the fool

For picking me up daily from school

For being involved in all that I do

From dance, art, tennis, theatre and church activities too

Staying up late when I need to talk

No matter what the time reads on the clock

You tell me it will all work out to be O.K.

Even when I feel it's hopeless in every way

Buying the groceries, cleaning up when I make a mess

Helping me study for all those hard tests

Because of you, my projects and homework are always done

But you make sure I take breaks and have some fun

You encourage me to speak my mind and be myself

Once again, you've outdone yourself

Don't worry about me when your not there

Because you've given me just enough discipline and care

Mommy, I think you are quite swell,

And when it comes to raising me, you're doing perfectly well

Mommy I love you, I love you I do

Mommy I thank you for all you do.
